Water Leak? Act Fast to Minimize Damage!
Discovering a water leak can be stressful, but knowing what to do can minimize damage and save you money. Here’s what to do if you find a leak:
- Shut Off the Water: Locate your main water shut-off valve and turn it clockwise (righty tighty!) to stop the flow of water. If you don’t know where your water main is, the time to find it is NOW before a leak occurs. Shutting off the water to the house will minimize the amount of damage, while you determine how to proceed with a repair or can isolate a more local shutoff.
- Contain the Leak: If possible, contain the leak using towels, buckets, or plastic sheeting. Be quick to remove the water, especially away from walls, linoleum and wood floors, and under carpets.
- Call a Plumber: Don’t attempt to repair the leak yourself unless it’s a simple fix.
- Call Plumberoo for fast, reliable and emergency service. We’ll identify the source of the leak and provide expert repairs.
- Document the Damage: Take photos or videos of the damage for insurance purposes, especially if the damage is significant.
Don’t let a small leak turn into a big problem!
